If you’re a KC barbecue aficionado, or even just casual connoisseur, then you know Oklahoma Joe’s. With locations on the Kansas side, in Mission and Olathe, the 14-year-old place is the first and last saucy word when it comes to BBQ for many locals, including us carnivores at Locker Partner.

And so it made us smile earlier today when the person who monitors the brand’s Facebook page executed a deft exchange with customers on the page’s Wall. It showing pretty much exactly how the ginormous social networking platform can be put to great use on a local level, without resorting to megaphone tactics. Here’s a screenshot.

First, the OK Joe’s Facebooker demonstrated one of the cardinal rules of interaction — giving value — by sharing an inspirational video and loosely tying it to Lent.

Then, when a customer took the initiative to ask if the restaurant had any Catholic-friendly offerings, the person behind the page had an immediate answer. Evangelists jumped in and backed it up.

What the screenshot doesn’t show: the 10 comments and counting. Or the 11,493 fans.

Well played, Joe’s.
