Yesterday afternoon, #smckc folks gathered at The Roasterie Cafe in Brookside to benefit Water.org and try to earn the elusive Swarm badge on Foursquare, a location-based mobile app that’s becoming all the rage in local social media and tech circles.

Were they successful at getting the 50 Foursquare check-ins needed for the badge? I have no idea. I was in and out annoyingly fast because I had another engagement, but I did get to talk to some cool people, such as Erin from Water.org and local vlogger T-Rave. We all enjoy geeking out over social media, but it’s always best when there’s a greater cause.

This Just In: Expect Foursquare to grow by leaps and bounds this year. The location-based mobile social netoworking app has just released a dashboard to help businesses connect with users.
